A neat and pretty girl from my new school, a childhood friend I used to play with, believing she was a boy — this is a school romantic comedy about how the past suddenly returns and forces you to rebuild yourself from scratch. The protagonist transfers to a new school and tries to start life anew, but on the very first day he meets the perfect top student — calm, polite, and far too familiar. She turns out to be his childhood friend; they used to run around the neighborhood and fight with sticks, back when he was sure he was befriending a boy. Now stands before him a grown-up girl who remembers all their silly oaths, knows his weak spots, and smiles as though nothing between them has ever changed. The series builds its humor on awkward situations and funny misunderstandings, but gradually becomes a story about acceptance, as the protagonist learns to stop clinging to old labels and see the person beside him for who he truly is. A key storyline explores how the heroine herself experienced her childhood, why it was easier for her to be someone other than herself, and what it means to finally allow herself to be beautiful not for someone else’s approval, but for her own peace of mind. This is a warm anime about friendship, jealousy, first confessions, and those small moments in hallways and after class — the very moments from which the most important things are later built.
